With Halloween season upon us, I knew I had to throw an amigurumi costume party for some of my favorite crochet chubby bunnies! Nothing says Halloween like a fun costume party, right?! While I told the bunnies to keep it simple, a couple went all out with the face paint and accessories!!! I’ll let you decide who the winner of this crochet Halloween costume party is!
I decided to take my easy chubby bunny amigurumi pattern and make a few modifications for these Halloween costumes. The crochet pattern is exactly the same as the one that can be Found Here. This post is only sharing the modifications that were made to each character. You will need to reference the original Chubby Bunny Crochet Pattern when crocheting each piece. Under each Halloween costume you’ll find a list for the specific materials needed to complete each amigurumi design.
I hope you have fun making these Halloween Bunnies!
Let’s get crocheting!

Frankenstein Bunny
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the colors Citron, Black and Soft Rose
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- Black embroidery floss and needle
- Plus, all other materials listed in the original pattern.
Ears- Follow the pattern and make 2 ears in black yarn.
Arms and Legs- Follow the pattern and make all 4 limbs in lime green yarn.
Tail- Follow the pattern and make 1 tail in lime green yarn.
Body
Follow along with this video for the hair technique.
Pattern and step by step photos are below it.
Follow rounds 1-8, using black yarn. Then continue with what is stated below.
R9: Sc 42. Starting with black yarn, sc every other stitch in lime green.
Start by making 1 sc in black, but before completing the stitch, drop the black yarn and pick up the lime green yarn. Complete the stitch as normal with the lime green yarn. In the next stitch, make 1 sc in lime green, but before completing the stitch, drop the green yarn and pick up the black yarn. Complete the stitch as normal with the black yarn.
Continue this method and sequence all the way around, ending with lime green. Do not carry or crochet over the color not being used.
Fasten off the black yarn. Continue working in lime green yarn.
R10-18: Sc 42.
Add safety eyes between rounds 12&13, 6 stitches apart.
With pink yarn, sew the nose in between the safety eyes. Leave one stitch between each eye and the nose. Go over the nose a total of 4 times. Then make one vertical line starting at the bottom center of the nose and going into round 13.
Use black embroidery floss to make stitches on the sides of the head.
Follow rounds 19-24 to complete the body.
Assemble the ears, arms, legs and tail exactly as the original crochet pattern states.
Mummy Bunny
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the colors Soft Taupe, White and Soft Rose
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- Plus, all other materials listed in the original pattern.
Follow the entire pattern exactly as stated. The only modification was the placement of the eyes. I positioned mine between rounds 11&12, 6 stitches apart.
Wrap
Using white yarn, Ch 411. In the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 410 times.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Starting at the back of the body, near the tail, start wrapping around the bunny. There is no right or wrong way to wrap, just go around the entire body, arms and ears, making sure to overlap in some parts. To secure the wrap, I tucked in the end near the top of the ear.

Vampire Bunny
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the colors Eggplant and Soft Rose
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- Black and White felt
- Red embroidery floss (or yarn) and a Size C/2.75mm crochet hook
- Hot glue gun
- Plus, all other materials listed in the original pattern.
Follow the entire pattern exactly as stated. Only modification made was on the nose, I omitted the vertical line in the center.
Bow
I used embroidery floss, but yarn can also be substituted for this instead. The hook used was a Size C/2.75mm.
Using red floss or yarn,
R1: Ch 4, then in the 1st ch make 3 tr. Ch 3 and sl st into the 1st ch. Ch 4, then in the original 1st chain (the one we’ve been putting stitches into) make 3 tr. Ch 3 and sl st into the 1st ch.
Fasten off and leave a long tail.
Wrap the long tail around the center of the bow, about 5-7 times. Then with the yarn needle, weave the long tail under the wrapping, on the back side of the bow, so there is one tail on each side of the wrapped yarn. Tie a knot twice with both tails. Weave the tails into the body, positioning the bow near rounds 15-17. I used hot glue to attach the bow, but you can also sew it into place instead.
Fangs
Cut 2 small triangles out of white felt and glue or sew into place near rounds 11+12.
Cape
Using black felt, cut out the cape following the measurements and guide below. The skinny “straps” will go over and wrap around the arms. Tuck any excess strap under the cape.
Pumpkin
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Michaels Craftsmart in the colors Orange and Leaf Green. Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the colors Walnut Tweed and Black.
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- Black felt
- Hot glue gun
- Plus, all other materials listed in the original pattern.
Follow the entire pattern exactly as stated. The only modifications were the placement of the eyes, the nose and the stem. I positioned the eyes between rounds 11&12, 6 stitches apart.
The nose was made using black yarn which I made into a small triangle over rounds 11&12.
Sew the stem to the top of the body before attaching the ears. The ears should be positioned and sewn right next to the stem. Lastly, sew the leaves in between the ears and stem on both sides.
Stem
Using brown yarn,
R1: 4 sc in magic ring. (4 sts)
R2: Inc in each st around. (8 sts)
R3: In BLO, Sc 8.
R4: Sc 8.
R5: *Sc 1, inc* 4 times. (12 sts)
R6: In FLO, Sc 12.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Add a little bit of fiberfill to the stem.
Sew the stem to the top of the body, covering the magic ring.

Leaves- Make 2
Using green yarn,
R1: Ch 13, in the 2nd ch from hook, *sl st, skip 1 st* 6 times, sl st in the last ch.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew the leaves to the body between each ear and stem.
Mouth
With black felt, cut out a jack o’lantern smile. I used hot glue to secure it in place, but you could also sew it if you prefer. Position the smile over rounds 13&15.
