Happy Valentine’s Day! Who’s ready for an all new set of bunnies? I know I sure am! This new collection has been on my mind for a couple of months now and seeing them come to life has been extra fun for me. These bunnies are decked out in their best Valentine costumes making them perfect for celebrating February 14th, a day all about love! This month we’re creating a Box of Chocolates complete with a mini truffle, a Chocolate Covered Strawberry, a Conversation Heart and of course, a Cupid! Whether you make one or all of them, I hope you have fun making these free crochet Valentine’s Day Bunnies!
The base for the amigurumi bunny pattern is the same as the one that can be FOUND HERE. This post is only sharing the modifications needed to make each character. You will need to reference back to the original Chubby Bunny Crochet Pattern when crocheting each piece. Under each Valentine’s Day Bunny character, I have listed the specific materials needed to complete each design.

Pattern Notes
- Below is a full how to video tutorial for the original amigurumi chubby bunny from my Youtube channel, A Menagerie of Stitches. Please consider subscribing! 🙂
- When the number comes AFTER the stitch, such as Sc 2, this means to place one single crochet into the next two stitches.
- When the number comes BEFORE the stitch, such as 2 sc, this means to place two single crochet stitches into the same stitch.
- If there are two stitches listed in between commas, such as “Sc, hdc dc, sc”, this means to place both a hdc and dc together in one stitch.

Chocolate Box Bunny
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the colors Cherry, Gold, and Walnut, Michaels Craftsmart in the color Mocha, Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in the color Pink.
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- 1 pair of black 6mm safety eyes
- White embroidery floss and needle
- Pink felt
- Hot glue gun
- Plus all other materials listed in the original Chubby Bunny pattern
Follow the entire Chubby Bunny pattern exactly as stated, making all the pieces in Cherry. The only modification was the placement of the eyes. I positioned mine between rounds 11&12, 6 stitches apart.
Ears
Sew the ears between rounds 4-8. Spacing them further apart like this makes room for the chocolate truffle.
Gold Ribbon
Using gold yarn, Ch 51 then starting in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (50 sts)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Starting at the back of the body, near round 9, apply a small amount of hot glue to the ribbon piece and press onto the body. Continue adding a small amount of glue to the ribbon and wrap around the body.
Gold Bow
Using gold yarn, Ch 40.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
To make a bow- Make two loops, as you would if tying bunny ears. Overlap the loops and pull one loop through the center to tie a knot. Pull the knot and make sure the ends and loops are even. Use hot glue to attach to the gold ribbon piece, positioning the bow off to the side.
Chocolate Truffle
This pattern comes from my 100 days of Mini Amigurumi Volume 2. I knew when making a chocolate box inspired bunny that adding a few truffles was a must! This chocolate truffle fits perfectly on top of the bunny, so I had to include it free. Be sure to check out my 100 days of Mini Amigurumi series for loads of cute tiny creations!
Truffle
Using mocha yarn,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
R2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
R3: *Sc 1, inc* 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: *Sc 2, inc* 6 times. (24 sts)
R5-8: Sc 24.
Add safety eyes between rounds 6&7, placing them about 3 stitches apart. Sew on mouth with white embroidery floss.
R9: In BLO, *Sc 2, inv dec* 6 times. (18 sts)
R10: *Sc 1, inv dec* 6 times. (12 sts)
R11: Inv dec around 6 times. (6 sts)Fasten off and weave in end. Use hot glue to attach two small pink felt cheeks.
Swirl
Using walnut yarn, Ch 30.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
To form the swirl on top- Start by adding a small amount of hot glue to the back of the chain and place on the center of the magic ring. Continue adding a small amount of glue to the chain and wrapping the piece in a spiral until you reach the end.
Using hot glue or yarn, attach the truffle to the top of the bunny, between the ears.

Conversation Heart Bunny
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in the color Pink, Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the color Lippy
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- White felt
- Hot glue gun
- Optional- Small clay heart
- Plus all other materials listed in the original Chubby Bunny pattern
Follow the entire Chubby Bunny pattern exactly as stated, making all the pieces in Pink. Stitch the nose in the color Lippy. The only modification was the placement of the eyes. I positioned mine between rounds 11&12, 6 stitches apart.
Felt Letters
With white felt, cut out small letters for words such as “Love”, “XO”, “Hugs”, etc. My letters measure about 0.5 inches tall. I freehanded the letters on paper first then I cut them out and used them as a template when cutting the felt. My biggest tip for cutting out small pieces of felt is to use super sharp scissors and go slow.
Apply a tiny amount of hot glue to the back of the letters then place them on the body of the bunny between rounds 14-17.
Optional Finish- I made a small heart out of polymer clay and hot glued it to one of the arms.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Bunny
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the colors Red Hot, Butterscotch, Soft Rose and Aran, Michaels Craftsmart in the color Mocha, Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in the color Kelly Green
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- Size B/2.25mm Crochet Hook (used only for the drizzle)
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- Hot glue gun
- Plus all other materials listed in the original Chubby Bunny pattern
Ears- Follow the pattern and make 2 ears in Red Hot.
Arms and Legs- Follow the pattern and make all 4 in Mocha.
Tail- Follow the pattern and make the tail in Mocha.
Body
Follow rounds 1-8 of the original pattern, using red hot yarn. Change to mocha yarn after completing round 8 and follow rounds 9-24 of the original pattern to complete the body.
Add safety eyes between rounds 11&12, 6 stitches apart.
With butterscotch yarn, add seeds in various places over the red part of the body.
Ears
Add seeds with butterscotch yarn. Sew the ears between rounds 4-8. Spacing them further apart like this makes room for the green top.
Assemble the arms, legs and tail exactly as the original Chubby Bunny pattern states.
Green Top
Using kelly green yarn,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
R2: *Inc, ch 3 then starting in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in the next 2 ch spaces* repeat 6 times.
When starting the next repeat, you’ll increase into the next stitch on the magic ring, just as if you were increasing all the way around. Sl st into the 1st sc of the magic ring. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Alternatively, you can weave in all the ends and apply hot glue to secure the green top in place on the bunny.
White Chocolate Drizzle
Using aran yarn and a Size B/2.25mm crochet hook, Ch 55.
Fasten off and leave a small tail.
To assemble the drizzle- Use straight pins to pin the chain piece onto the bunny. You’ll want to create a zig zag shape with the chain so go back and forth, going from big to small. Use the yarn needle to weave in the tail, this helps anchor the chain in place. Then with hot glue, apply a very small amount to the back of the chain and attach it to the body. Continue adding glue and creating the zig zag shape as you place it on the body. Weave in the second small tail to the inside of the body.

Cupid Bunny
Materials Needed:
- Yarn- I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in the colors Orchid, Toasted Almond and Light Gray, Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable in the colors White and Soft Rose
- Size E/3.5mm Crochet Hook
- Size B/2.25mm Crochet Hook (used only for the arrows)
- 1 pair of black 9mm safety eyes
- Silver sparkly pipe cleaner- measuring about 5 inches
- Light Pink, Pink, and Red felt
- Hot glue gun
- Plus all other materials listed in the original Chubby Bunny pattern
Follow the entire Chubby Bunny pattern exactly as stated, making all the pieces in Orchid. Stitch the nose in Soft Rose. The only modification was the placement of the eyes. I positioned mine between rounds 11&12, 6 stitches apart.
Antennas
When making the body, I found it easier to add the antennas before stuffing and completing the body.
Once you reach round 8, take the pipe cleaner and insert going into the body, between rounds 3+4. Then bring the pipe cleaner back to the outside of the body, 2 stitches away and pull through. Make sure they are even. If needed, you can use wire cutters to trim them, just make sure they aren’t too short.
When adding the safety eyes, make sure the antennas line up in the center of the eyes!
If you forget to add the pipe cleaner and your body is fully complete, not to worry! Just insert your crochet hook into the two stitches where the antennas will be and insert the pipe cleaner. Using the crochet hook helps open up the stitches so the pipe cleaner can slide in a bit easier.
Assemble the ears, arms, legs and tail exactly as the pattern states.
Wings
See Pattern Notes if having trouble with round 7.
Left Wing
(Left on bunny, your right when looking at finished bunny)
Using white yarn,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
R2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
R3: *Sc 1, inc* 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: Sc 1, inc, *sc 2, inc* 5 times, sc 1. (24 sts)
R5: *Sc 3, inc* 6 times. (30 sts)
R6: Sc 2, inc, *sc 4, inc* 5 times, sc 2. (36 sts)
R7: Fold the piece in half and work the stitches through both sides- Sc 9, 2 hdc, hdc dc, 2 dc, dc tr, 2 tr, tr dc, dc hdc, hdc sc. (25 sts)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Use the yarn needle to weave the tail all the way back over to the start of round 7.
Right Wing
Follow rounds 1-6 from the left wing, then follow round 7 below.
R7: Fold the piece in half and work the stitches through both sides- sc hdc, hdc dc, dc tr, 2 tr, tr dc, 2 dc, dc hdc, 2 hdc, sc 9. (25 sts)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
With straight pins, pin the wings starting near round 12, about 1 or 2 stitches apart. Use the yarn needle to sew the wings into place. I stitched along the top and bottom edge of the wings to make sure they were securely attached.
Bow
Using toasted almond yarn,
R1: 5 sc in magic ring. (5 sts)
R2-18: Sc 5.
Fasten off and leave a long tail to close piece. Keep tail for the bow string.
Bend the piece into a “C” shape, with about 3 rounds on each end. To make the string, with the tail used for closing the piece, weave it through the inside to the outside. With the bow still in the “C” shape, insert the needle into the other end. You’ll want the ends of the bow to be even so that’s why we’re leaving 3 rounds at each end. Secure the string with a knot and hide inside the bow.
To attach the bow to the arm, you can either apply a small dot of hot glue to the bow and secure it in place. Or you can use the yarn tail to sew it to the arm.
Arrows- Make 3
I found it much easier to create these by crocheting an I-cord. If you have never made an I-cord before, there are many tutorials online for how to make them. I am linking a YouTube video below for the tutorial I watched and found super helpful.
For these arrows, you’ll want to make an I-cord that is about 2.25 inches in length. Use toasted almond yarn and a Size B/2.25mm Crochet Hook.
Sew or use hot glue to attach one arrow to the arm. Tuck the other two into the bag (pattern down below).
Felt Hearts
To make the hearts, I freehanded them on paper first and after cutting them out, used them as a template when cutting the felt. My biggest tip for cutting out felt is to use sharp scissors and to go slow.
For the arrows- Make 3 hearts total, one in light pink, one in pink and one in red (mine measure 0.75 inch). You can make these in any color! Use hot glue to attach the hearts to the tips of the arrows, making sure the tip of the heart is facing up.
For the antennas- Make 2 large hearts in pink (mine measure between 0.75-1 inch). Then make 2 red hearts slightly smaller than the pink (mine measure about 0.5 inch) Use hot glue to attach the red hearts to the pink ones. Then use hot glue to attach the hearts to the antennas.

Arrow Bag
Using light gray yarn,
R1: Ch 7, then starting in the 2nd ch from hook, and in both loops leaving the back “bump”, inc, sc 4, inc in the last st, then working into the bumps, inc into the same space as the last inc (this will help turn the work), sc 4, inc in the last st. (16 sts)
R2-6: Sc 16.
R7: Sc 1, ch 60, skip 8 stitches and sc into the 9th stitch. Make sure the chain is not twisted before you make the single crochet! This single crochet into the 9th stitch will secure the chain strap. Fasten off and weave in the tail.
The bag should fit over the ears and under one arm. Tuck the remaining two arrows into the bag.
