I’ve teamed up with my favorite craft store, Michaels, for another fun holiday inspired amigurumi project! Friends, let me introduce you to the cutest and most cuddly crochet penguin I have ever seen! I used to be obsessed with penguins and making this crochet one reignited my love for this sweet animal.

Working with chunky yarns has been quite popular this past year so I was excited to pick up something I haven’t seen anyone talk about. The Eco-Luxe line of yarn that is exclusive to Michaels is much different than anything I’ve ever worked with which is why I was so excited to try it out! This yarn is a level 6 super bulky and is made from recycled plastic, acrylic and wool. It’s super soft and comes in the perfect shades to make a crochet chunky penguin.
This amigurumi penguin has a few color changes, but it works up so quickly and would make the perfect last minute gift for Christmas or any other special occasion. Or if you just want to make yourself a crochet penguin then have at it!
Have fun and I hope you enjoy this pattern!

Pattern Notes:
This crochet pattern is worked in continuous rounds. This means you do not join at the end of each
round and you simply continue onto the next round. Use a stitch marker to mark the end of the round.
There are quite a few color changes throughout the body of the crochet penguin. I found it best to cut the yarn after each color change and rejoin it when needed. Just make sure to secure all the ends if you do this method. Another option is to carry the yarn behind the work and pick it up when needed. I didn’t like this method as the yarn being carried could be seen through the stitches. Remember to leave loose tension on the color not being used if you do this method.
This crochet pattern has only been made using the Eco-Luxe yarn so I’m not sure what other yarns would look like. Definitely play around and use what kind of yarn and the hook size that you’d like!
