Hi Friends! In this how to crochet post I will teach you about Front and Back Loops only (FLO) & (BLO).
Knowing the difference between the front and back loops is super important. Firstly, so you know which side of your crochet project is the front and which is the back. But also you can utilize these for making specific shapes within your amigurumi pieces. Additionally there is something called the back bumps, which is another unique “loop” – Find the tutorial here.

Identifying Front & Back Loops
When holding your work, you’ll see from the top that the stitches look like a sideways “V”. The side closest to you is the front loop, and the one behind is the back loop.
Front Loops Only – (FLO)
When the pattern states to crochet “In FLO”, work the stitches in the front loops only.
After crocheting a few stitches, you’ll notice the back loops are visible since we aren’t working in them.
Back Loops Only – BLO
When the pattern states to crochet “In BLO”, insert hook into the center of the V, going under the back loop.
Again, after a few stitches made in the back loops, you’ll notice the front loops are visible.
