To Make An Increase
An increase is used to expand your piece and make it bigger. To increase, you’ll simply place 2 single crochets into 1 stitch. If you look at the photo below, you’ll see 2 “V’s” in one stitch. This is an increase.
For Hdc Inc, Dc Inc, or Tr Inc
In some patterns, you may see the abbreviations “Hdc Inc“, “Dc Inc“, or “Tr Inc“. These are simply the same as a regular increase, the only difference is the type of stitch being made. For regular increases, we use single crochet stitches, as mentioned earlier. For “Hdc Inc”, you will place two half double crochet stitches together in the same stitch. For “Dc Inc”, two double crochet stitches will go into the same stitch. For “Tr Inc”, you’ll place two treble crochet stitches together into the same stitch.
